April 9, 2011

Well this week went good and i have one story to tell you that was the coolest feeling i have had in my mission so far welll actually two but the one i super short...The short one first: So i OYMed this tatay and he is like in his 40's and i asked if we could share a message and he said yes, so we went into his house which is a store as well like almost all houses in this area. He gave us a free soft drink which was so nice cause it was just so hot and then i started just asking questions to get to know him and he is a hard working dad of three and just has a hard life like most people. Then i turned into a gospel thing and started asking question about religion when he said he was catholic but doesn't go to church or anything like that and really has no knowledge of the gospel so i taught lesson one and it was really good... and that was it and i gave him the commitment to pray and he agreed to a return appointment and this is where the cool thing happened...the first thing he said before we started the lesson was thank you because he said he prayed and because he prayed God blessed his life and gave him a job. He found a job the next day and that he felt the love of God for him and that God just had blessed him because he prayed.... I loved this thing because it is as simple as prayer. asking a man to pray that has no knowledge of the gospel but still the Lord blessed his life because he acted upon a commandment of God... so cool right??? Story two: So we had just been punted from about three or four doors and by now i was just like this sucks and I was like okay lets just OYM and burn time...so we were walking by this empty lot when a young bata (kid) called me Joe so i walked over to him to talk to him and I was talking in Tagalog and of course that just blew his mind he even asked me if i was philippino and i always joke i am but i just have white skin and they love it as kids because they are so kind and caring...so as i was talking in Tagalog more and more kids started coming and just asking me funny questions like my eye color or my height or if my eyes are fake or why am i here and then one kid asked about what we do so i told him my purpose and then they just began throwing all kinds of questions about that. Then a tatay brought me a chair and put it in the shade so it wasn't as hot and the kids were just so interested so i starting asking questions about what religions are they or who prays and then i decided to teach them the first lesson. (It is summer vacation here so kids don't have school) so i am siting on the side of the road in the shade and i have about, and this is no lie, 40 kids siting around me just as quiet as quiet is and i began to teach them about the first lesson is was asking question and get great answer and it was just amazing and then we finished the lesson and i asked them all there names and asked them to all start pray and it was just the best moment ever. I didn't worry about the language and it just came i said everything i wanted to and they loved it and they understood and i felt the spirit and i know they felt the spirit and so now when i walk in that part of town kids always call out to me as their friend and they are all so happy to see me and it makes me feel so good to know that i helped all these kids know and get closer the their loving heavenly father and that moment i will never forget because it was so sweet...Those were my two great time this week. These are the things that truly help me know i am in the right place doing the right things... I miss you guys too and love you guys more than anything in the whole world... man i miss dougs family too ...  tell Zach i love him and say hi and when i am done with my mission i will play with him... WELL LOVE YOU AGAIN AND KEEP ON KEEPING ON!!!!!!!! Always pray, read daily , and go to church weekly... those are the three most important things we can ever do!!

Things here were great this week that is for sure...we went on picnics with members where there was this big river and kalibaw and fishermen and just it was so so cool. O and yes I am transferring tomorrow to the other side of the mission...Magalang is the name of my area it is right by Angeles and there are a lot of beautiful women there and a lot of white people there too cause it is like big city...a burger king and pizza hut too o yeah baby...  My new companion's name is Elder Timbas he is really small i guess and yeah so we see how that goes and i can't believe i am going to a whole new area it is so crazy but i am ready...o and they speak a different language in my new area to... here is an example
1: What is your name?
2: (My area now (Aduas)) Ano ang panggalan mo?
3: (My new Area (Magalang)) Nanong lagyu mo?
Crazy I know i can't believe that but it should be fun and it will just be all so new again... I am nervous but i know that is normal...But most people understand Tagalog even if they speak a different language so that it good lol... I had just a fun great week here  in the mission here are some things that happened this week... I taught a whole bunch of new people. One guy i taught was a Muslim and doesn't believe in Christ so that was so hard, since i know nothing about there religion...but i just hope he felt the spirit...then we taught a new women who felt the spirit so strong she just started crying and saying this is what she needs in her life cause it is so hard right now so that was a great experience. All of our numbers were the highest they had ever been too so that was great to go out with a bang I am going to miss all the people in Aduas though. And man is it hot here summer is starting here and it is so hot but what can you do about that. I ate chicken feet finally they taste alright but so much work for so little meat lol... I can't believe i have been here this long time is just flying by...I can't believe how much has changed in my self already... I am so glad you are all doing great and working hard...

Feb 13th, 2011

This week has been so so sweet... And right now it sweet cause in all the computer shops there is great great music lol all American music too. This week went so so good i am starting to have just a normal conversation with just total strangers and they can understand me and people are always tell me i have great Tagalog so that always makes me so so happy and everything is so great. Nay the mango's are the best thing in the world. I love it here you can just walk down the street and begin picking fruit and eat it for free cause they are just everything. every tree or bush has some kind of fruit or gulay (vegtables). The food is to die for other than i ate deep fried intestines so those were a little weird but i made it through lol...We have a baptism on the 26th for sure so that is great. It is PaolMar a 11 year old boy that is so stinking cool lol... I got two pairs of paints made the other day and bought some watter baffalo belts lol... basketball here is crazy everyone likes it... i am always getting asked to dunk and stuff it is funny almost every corners has a hoop and we play like twice a week.

Feb 21st, 2011

Well this week was another hard but great week... first thing is i had to lead the area for the first time and that was hard but went pretty dang good so that made me happy... i planned and lead the zone leader that whole day cause the next morning he interviewed my investigator. He gets baptized on Saturday and i am so happy and excited lol.. then the other day we taught at a house in a swamp you walk on three pieces of bamboo to get out to there house which was scary and then the family told us about a water lizard that has been eating for chickens lol.. and snakes that could eat full ducks scary .. then later that night i was teaching when i saw something in the corner of my eye run across the wall and it was a spider the size of my hand no joke it was huge and i didn't like seeing that lol... but the work has been a little slow so we need to buckle down and get to work. Things are good here really and that makes me happy the food is good and that makes me happy too some stuff is gross but o well... and then the heat is hot always... but things are always getting better i am seeing huge changes in the language and what i can understand and say so that is sweet... there is a lot of English here though which makes things hard cause people always want to talk to you in English which doesn't help me lol... but things are just good i am busy!
